Abstract

In the era of information technology (IT), there is no business can survive without leveraging IT services. This approach extends the competition concept beyond the classic terms. This article illustrates the crucial role of IT and business alignment on organizational performance based on a comprehensive set of previous scientific studies. This article clarifies to what extent strategic planning alignment between both business and IT can enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of organizational agility by identifying major benefits on the internal and external levels of organizations. On the other hand, it draws attention to challenges like cultural differences and communication gaps that prevent this alignment. Recommendations are provided for fostering a collaborative culture, investing in training, and adopting adaptive strategies hand in hand with emphasizing the need for continuous assessments and integration with emerging technologies to maintain alignment and sustainability.
