METHODOLOGICAL ADVANCES IN KNOWLEDGE SYNTHESIS AND THE USE OF ASREVIEW LAB: AN EXPERIENCE REPORT

Abstract

Objective: to report the use of ASReview LAB in reading and selecting studies for knowledge synthesis. Method: an experience report on the use of ASReview LAB in reading and selecting studies. Results: this report demonstrated the software’s use in five main stages: download and installation; configuration and essential commands; reading titles and abstracts; reading full texts; and data extraction. ASReview LAB proved effective in accelerating study reading, reducing time and effort. It also aided data extraction by promoting greater organization and integrity. However, it presented limitations in integrating with other platforms and adapting to different data types, which indicates opportunities for improvement. Conclusion: ASReview LAB has the potential to transform the conduct of knowledge synthesis studies, making the process more efficient, accessible, and transparent. Further testing is recommended to expand its applicability in different research contexts.
