Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the role of father involvement and self-esteem in on psychological well-being of early adolescents. Early adolescence was a critical period for the development of psychological well-being. Psychological well-being was viewed as factor that can determine the direction of development of adolescents and was influenced by internal and external factor of self. Researchers want to see the role of father involvement as external factor and self-esteem as internal factor that can affect psychological well-being of early adolescents. Participant of this study were 300 adolescents who were 12-15 years old from three schools in Jakarta and Depok. Data collection was carried out using Reported Father Involvement Scale (RFIS), Rosenberg's Self-Esteem Scale (RSES), and Ryff's Scale of Psychological Well-Being (RPWB). The multiple linear regression analysis was used. The results showed that father involvement and self-esteem of early adolescents had a significant affect on psychological well-being.
