The species are assigned to their appropriate family, order and class, and full dichotomous keys are provided down to species level. In addition to the full description, each species account contains a full synonymy, a list of species examined, selected references to alternative descriptions and illustrations, and detailed general notes. Each species is illustrated and the British species are depicted in colour. A glossary and subject index are provided.
