Abstract

Previous editions were abstracted in Geographical Abstracts: Social and Historical Geography as 80D/3672, 83D/2243 and 88D/1177. This edition is due to the continued production of substantial volumes of high quality scholarship by Anglo-American human geographers, and especially the continued vitality of the debate over competing views of the discipline. The basic organisational framework has not been altered, but this enlarged edition now contains 9 sections covering: the nature of an academic discipline; foundations; growth of systematic studies and the adoption of "scientific method'; the search for a focus; behavioural geography; humanistic geography; applied geography and the relevance debate; radical approaches; and evaluation. -K.Ferenczy
