A Method for Multisensor-Multispectral Satellite Data Fusion

Abstract

This paper describes a general data fusion method for merging multisensor-multispectral scan-line-based datasets, including satellite and ground-based data. It utilizes the Polar Orbiter Remapping and Transformation Application Library (PORTAL) to demonstrate the spatial combination of polar-orbiting (e.g., DMSP SSM/I) and geostationary (e.g., GOES VISSR) satellite data, as well as sensors with different earth scan patterns and resolutions.
