Abstract

Because of its unusual chemical properties, perchlorate is more than just another entry on the growing list of environmentally persistent halogenated chemicals, says Bruce Logan. Despite this, prospects for remediating widespread perchlorate-contaminated water are promising, Logan says, and he explains why.
