Abstract

A writing system is a mnemonic device. Mnemonic devices can be viewed as kinds of structures which are abbreviations of the structures. Between the original structure and the structure of the mnemonic device there exists a kind of morphism. That is, given certain information the original structure can be coded into the structure of the mnemonic device and vice versa.
