Abstract

Larvae of Aenetus virescens (Doubleday) have previously been recorded only from the wood of live trees or shrubs. This paper describes the circumstances in which larvae occupy decaying wood in the forest habitat. Young larvae are considered to exist in dead wood for no more than a year. They then disperse to live trees, in which development is completed. © 1979 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
