Abstract

This chapter describes how promoting wellness in our children is an essential and often overlooked part of child development. By learning effective resiliency skills, children are better able to manage the stressors and daily hassles often faced while growing up. These skills also provide a protective factor by improving overall mental and physical health and, in some cases, by even reversing the impact of trauma when it occurs. Given the importance of this topic, this chapter highlights five programs integrating CRM/TRM wellness skills into their offerings for children and their caregivers. In addition, activities about how to apply CRM/TRM wellness skills directed toward children are described.
