Abstract

Aceh province has great potential in agriculture and plantations, one of which is sugar cane plantations. Bener Meriah Regency has around 2,431 hectares of sugarcane plantation area, the rest includes coffee plantations, when compared to the largest supporting the economy of Bener Meriah Regency is coffee, while sugar cane plantations are only a small part of the people who grow it. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze and evaluate land suitability in Bener Meriah Regency so that land use for sugarcane plantations can be utilized optimally and sustainably. Land suitability analysis can be done using GIS applications, namely by conducting overlay and matching analysis on land suitability parameters such as rainfall, soil type, slope, soil texture and temperature. The results showed that 0.23% of the entire area of Bener Meriah Regency was suitable for sugarcane plantations, namely Pintu Rime Gayo District in Pantan Lah Village, while 90.01% of the Bener Meriah Regency area was classified as unsuitable for sugarcane plantations.
