Abstract

Abstract: New silanediamide complexes of divalent lanthanides with different metal-to-ligand ratios are synthesized: K[K(THF)][Yb(Me2Si(NMes)2)2] (1) and [Eu2(Me2Si(NMes)2)2(THF)3] (2) (Mes = 2,4,6-(CH3)C6H2 == mesityl). The compounds are isolated as crystalline phases 1 and 2·C7H8 and characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction. Compound 1 is an ate complex in which two silanediamide ligands are coordinated to Yb by nitrogen atoms in a chelate manner, and the potassium ions are linked with aromatic rings of mesityl substituents. In binuclear complex 2, two coordination types of the silanediamide ligand are observed: μ-κ1N,κ2N and μ-κ2N,κ2N. [Figure not available: see fulltext.]
