Abstract
Death, both hidden and wide open, live together in the XXI century. Children and young people face death in their daily lives by seeing the loss of significant relatives by living under violence and by viewing and hearing the media. Death also pervades the school environment with children and young people bereaved or because of deaths that occur in educational institutions. In this article we discuss how the school and educators see death. We study their involvement in this process, their needs and difficulties. We make proposal for inclusion of this theme the regular educational activities or in special institutions and teacher education.
