Atrichia with papular lesions

Abstract

A case of a 31 yr old man, with almost complete atrichia associated with widespread yellowish papular lesions is reported. Histological examinations of hairless scalp and papular lesion revealed the epithelial cyst filled with keratinous material in concentric layers. The authors assume the evolution of a hairy developmental anomaly to cyst formation as has been suggested in hairless mice, and regard the case described as a particular form in the broad spectrum of ectodermal dysplasia.
