Abstract

One of the ways to reduce the emissions of greenhouse gasses and simultaneously the price of the fuel is by producing biofuels using poultry litter. The objective of this paper is synthesis of bio-oils derived from poultry litter suchas feathers, chicken excreta, spilled feed and other bedding materials. This bio-oil when blended in required proportion gives numerous applications in the region of biofuels and energy generation. The best and effective way that can be implemented for production of biofuel from poultry litter is Pyrolysis process. The experiment is conducted by slow pyrolysis methods which are having temperatures nearly 500°C (932°F). The properties of the bio-oil obtained from the process were analyzed and the biofuel is tested in DI Diesel engine. The product of this process also includes char rich in nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium content which has a great ability to be used as manure for agricultural purposes.
