Abstract

Muscle pain in the inferior extremities (leg region) is a musculoskeletal complaint that is often found, both due to excessive physical activity and blood circulation disorders. Acupuncture therapy has long been used as a non-pharmacological alternative to pain management. The purpose of this journal is to examine the effectiveness of acupuncture therapy at six key points: ST 36, SP 10, SP 6, SP 3, LI 4 and SJ 5 (TB 5),  in reducing the intensity of leg muscle pain. The research method uses an evidence-based literature review that refers to research in Indonesia and internationally. The results showed that stimulation at these points significantly increased the pain threshold through the mechanism of endorphin release, improvement of microcirculation, and energy regulation (Qi). It was concluded that the combination of distal and local points exerted an optimal analgesic effect on the inferior extremities
