Er’body Talkin’ ‘bout Social Justice Ain’t Goin’ There

Abstract

The author reflects on the Black experience in the U.S. as well as the African American children's experiences in the nation's schools. He references the song "Everybody Talkin' 'Bout Heaven" by the Negro Spiritual. He provides several definitions of teaching for social justice. He also discusses Black student's mathematics experiences in schools using the 3/5ths rule as a metaphor.
