Abstract
More than ever, technology governs human life, sociality, politics, and culture in general. This article examines transhumanism, a relatively new entry into the political economy of life, for its overarching impact on humanity, history, and the market. I first review foundational accounts in the philosophy of technology conducive to the discussions of human, technology, and the body, before unpacking the ever-elusive terms: transhuman(ism) and posthuman(ism). Subsequently, this essay facilitates moral and ethical reflections drawn from postphenomenology. I also offer implications and future research orientations in three areas: choice, matter (materiality), and transformation.
