Displacement current and Maxwell’s equations

Abstract

The roles of the displacement and conduction currents in Maxwell’s equations are interpreted in a way consistent with the retarded potentials, according to which the displacement current in empty space should not be included as one of the sources of the magnetic field when the vector potential is calculated.
