Abstract

In this article, members of the dam construction industry provide information on notable dam and hydroelectric power construction projects. Details on the unique features and achievements of the following projects are provided: the 10,300MW Guri hydroelectric power scheme on the Caroni River in Venezuela (one of the largest operating projects in the world); the slender 200m high Contra arch dam on the Verzrasca River in Switzerland; and the 240m high, 774m long Ertan Dam in China which is the third highest operating double curvature dam in the world.
