Abstract

Objective To relate the level of cardiovascular risk, degree of physical activity and quality of sleep in public servants of the Technical University of the North, Ecuador. Methods Observational, field, relational, cross-sectional study, in which the Globorisk instrument was used to estimate the level of cardiovascular risk, the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) for the degree of physical activity, and the Pittsburg Index (PSQI) for sleep quality. Results 82 public servants from the Faculty of Health Sciences of the Universidad Técnica del Norte were included. The research shows a statistically significant relationship calculated through the Chi-square Test, with a value p=0.001, between the level of cardiovascular risk (CVR) and the degree of physical activity. The same test was applied to establish the relationship between CVR and sleep quality, yielding a p=0.041 value, which represents a statistically significant association between both variables. Conclusions There is a statistically significant relationship between the level of cardiovascular risk and the degree of physical activity, as well as between cardiovascular risk and sleep quality, in public servants from the Technical University of the North, Ecuador.
