Abstract

This paper begins with a brief literature review concerning the increased burden of infectious illness among children attending child care centres compared to those cared for at home. Infectious diseases in child care centres have an impact not only on the children's health but also on lost time from work for parents. In point form, the paper then describes a study which analysed available workplace employee surveys to estimate time lost due to children's illness.
