The peat protection policy has been in place for more than two decades, but fires are still recurring in peatlands. This study examines the peat ecosystem protection policy in Indonesia, before and after 2015. The qualitative research method relies on historical policy data and empirical data. The results show that before 2015 the use of peat was oriented towards economic growth, and after 2015 the policy orientation was towards sustainable use of peat. There has been a shift in the working paradigm of forest and land fire control from extinguishing to prevention. In addition to corrective policy measures, corrective actions have also taken place to protect peat ecosystems in the field (corrective action).
