Abstract

The primary objective of this article is to examine the costs and benefits associated with heart transplantation, including current trends with regard to coverage and reimbursement of transplant procedures. Finally, the article concludes with some observations on emerging issues that are likely to determine the future of cardiac transplantation, such as the designation of qualified transplant programs and Medicare reimbursement for the procedure.
