Abstract

http://dx.doi.org/10.5902/217976929157Aim: identify sociodemographic and clinical characteristics of patients admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a university hospital. Method: documentary, descriptiveretrospective and quantitative study, developed at a University Hospital in the state of Paraná. The data consisted of records of all obstetric patients admitted to the ICU of the hospital between July 2006 and July 2012. Results: met 35 charts. Point out the profile of teenagers patients who were hospitalized for hypertensive disorders, hemorrhageand infectious, mostly in postpartum period. The number of antenatal visits was neglected for a record 25.7% of the records. It was observed mortality in 20% of patients. Conclusions: identified overview of clinical and sociodemographic variables of obstetric patients admitted to ICU. The mortality rate was considerable and the reasons for ICU admission Will meet the literature, reinforcing the advanced support services should contribute to policies and health interventions to reduce maternal morbidity and mortality.
