Abstract

A produção científica em questão tem como finalidade abordar as reflexões trazidas pelo filósofo francês Michel Foucaul acerca da dignidade da pessoa humana quanto ao sistema punitivo que os homens eram submetidos no século XVIII, trazendo à tona, os principais aspectos abordados na obra Vigiar e Punir: o nascimento das prisões. Ato contínuo, paralelos são feitos com a atual legislação brasileira para que assim possa existir uma melhor compreensão referente aos fatos descritos por Foucault.The scientific production in question aims to address the reflections brought by the French philosopher Michel Foucaul about the dignity of the human person regarding the punitive system that men were subjected to in the 18th century, bringing to light the main aspects addressed in the work Vigiar e Punish: the birth of prisons. Subsequently, parallels are made with the current Brazilian legislation so that there can be a better understanding regarding the facts described by Foucault.
