Abstract
In BriefDiabetic nephropathy, characterized by proteinuria and progressive kidney failure, occurs more frequently when uncontrolled hyperglycemia and hypertension are present. Exaggerated cardiovascular risk is present in these patients, and early detection and treatment are imperative. Successful prevention and treatment are available, primarily based on aggressive blood glucose and blood pressure control.
