Abstract

It is particularly timely to make it easier for teachers to build upon the existing body of knowledge about metacognition. This is because it is becoming increasingly common for teachers to create their own digital learning resources or to modify or adapt existing ones. This chapter argues for the creation of a new class of interface element that is part of the authoring toolkit for digital learning resources. This would pave the way for teachers to readily incorporate these metacognitive interface elements into a learning resource.
