Abstract

However, few studies have addressed the accessibility of these resources. For this reason, this study seeks to investigate the accessibility of 28 OERs’ designed for the primary education stage that are housed in two repositories managed by the Portuguese educational authorities. To this end, the guide of indicators designed by Ayuso-del Puerto and Gutiérrez-Esteban (2) has been used. This guide is based on the principles of the Universal Design for Learning (UDL). This study uses a quantitative and exploratory research methodology for the analysis of the data obtained. The main findings highlight that more than 90% of the resources present a low level of accessibility because they do not respond to 41% of the items of the instrument and, therefore, to the principles of the UDL. Thus, barriers to equitable access to learning for students remain and make it difficult to achieve universal digital literacy. Therefore, it is necessary to design a frame of reference in the design of inclusive digital educational materials that contemplates the principles of the UDL.
