Abstract

Evolution of the families involved in crisis-ado-family program. - The following article is dedicated to the presentation of a brief and intensive intervention program designed to help families with adolescents. It also presents research data on the evolution profile of the families involved in the program. First it discusses the objectives of the program, the attributes of the children and families targeted by the program, the specific parameters and stages which guide the intervention process. Follow some outcomes noted on the families' progress and some related to the rate of placement of the children in substitute care during or after the program. The data generally support a global positive change for those who benefited from the program's interventions. Also supported by the data, very few of the adolescents on the program where placed in a substitute environment during the interventions or after. More specifically, modest progress is noted with regard to family functioning and parenting practices, and a clinically significant reduction of parent's mental distress is observed. Data analysis also show that progress observed for adolescents and their families occurs most often at the time the intervention is being implemented and that these results hold out in time. ©Medecine et Hygiene.
