Abstract

In this article, I analyze public opinion about the 2006 Mexican presidential election in the context of the post-election confict. My goal is to determine which individual-level variables infuenced opinions about the post-election confict. The analysis focuses on individual positions about the election fairness, confdence in the electoral Tribunal, claims for a full recount, and the public's stands on street protests and mobilization, among others. I use the Mexican component of the Comparative National Election Project (cnep), conducted for the frst time in Mexico in 2006 as a two-wave, preelection and postelection, panel design. The results highlight the importance of political predispositions in the analysis of public opinion in Mexico.
