Eduardo benot y rodrÍguez: Language and literatura in the curso de estudios superiores at the observatorio de marina de san fernando (1857-1869)

Abstract

Eduardo Benot y Rodríguez was a figure of great importance in teaching and education fields in Cádiz, as well as a national reference in pedagogy and philology. His days as a teacher led him to teach in the Curso de Estudios Superiores del Observatorio de Marina de San Fernando, as a language and literature teacher. This article focuses on that period of his life, between the years 1857 and 1869, to analyze in detail both the professional aspects carried out for the Navy, as well as the personal ones that can be known through the different sources consulted.
