Abstract

The pharmacologic information available on ketamine is reviewed and its potential clinical uses are discussed. It is apparent that this drug is not the ideal intravenous anesthetic; however, its many useful pharmacologic properties hopefully will spur the search for agents which will be closer to the ideal. 255 references are cited.
