Abstract

In this chapter, Mathew P. White, Lewis R. Elliott, Mireia Gascon, Bethany Roberts and Lora E. Fleming present an overarching review of the evidence from the current research literature and from the findings of the research carried out in the BlueHealth project in order to provide the best evidence planners and designers can use to support their policies, plans and projects. It is essentially an overview of the current knowledge, extensively but not exhaustively referenced and presented in a way which is accessible to professional and student readers. It integrates the benefits and risks by showing that the one often comes with the other.
