Del capital urbano al capital humano: Vacío arquitectónico y espacio público como catalizadores de acción

Abstract

This article aims to investigate those artistic experiences that decline from architecture and artistic action. Both disciplines collaborate with each other to create shared spaces: architecture in its most diachronic dimension opens its spaces to the artistic action in its most participatory expression. We will analyze different experiences in which the hybridization between these two arts becomes more effective and bear fruits. We will see how the empty spaces of the cities open up to the common good; the ghosts of an industrialization that reaches its last stage and provides fertile ground for the development of new artistic solutions. With this in mind, we will talk about Macao, a 2012 socio-cultural experiment and about Base1 with 'Casa di Tutti' in Milan. We will also highlight some works and installations of the Artikistas collective, a heterogeneous group born from the collaboration between artists and architects in the city of Bilbao. The examples will serve as a reference to explain the ways in which the two disciplines approach problems such as: the urban void resulting from the abandonment of buildings and the increasing disappearance of public space and the common good in favour of a growing interest in the privatisation of places, neighbourhoods and even entire cities.
