Abstract

: A simple rearing method for Acanthoplusia agnata which does not require the change of artificial diet was developed. Each group of 5 insects was reared in a vinyl chloride cup containing the diet. On the average, 66.0% of the eggs inoculated in a cup with the diet pupated without change of the diet. A higher ratio of pupation (85.1%) was attained when the insects were transferred to the cup containing the artificial diet at the 2nd or 3rd instar larval stages. © 1987, JAPANESE SOCIETY OF APPLIED ENTOMOLOGY AND ZOOLOGY.
