Abstract

Studying language skills development means learning about how individual minds work which can then be changed to be able to improve the quality of individual life to be productive. It takes ways of communication that refer to regard the individual's internal condition based on experience and communication both inter and or intrapersonal which is then linked to the concept of reality. The problem of public speaking is a psychological and language problem. Competence and good performance need to be supported by positive reframing. This study discussed reframing scientific forum communication. The method is carried out by observing and distributing questionnaires to 30 students who feel insecurity in scientific forum communication. Observation results show that the problem of insecurity in scientific forum communication is caused by the perception of scientific substance, emotional control, and self-image. Based on the descriptive study of reframing in Neuro-Linguistic Programming, it was found that the insecurity occurred because feelings of being watched and judged, felt that someone else was smarter, considered scientific forums as a very important event and must be free from errors. In addition, they think the opinion conveyed is not essential and the feeling element is about physical performance. Reframing in Neuro-Linguistic Programming is done by making analogies, causal relationships, and mind maps on the role of self, scientific context, and the nature of communication, as well as self-image recognition. In this way, labels will be formed about scientific forum communication and the concept of self-image to build perceptions about scientific forums. Thus there will be a positive perception to improve student communication skills.
