Abstract

The present investigation was carried out in order to study the effect of pre-harvest spray of calcium and potassium on fruit physical attributes and yield of pear cv Pathernakh. Fifteen year old pear trees were treated at three concentrations (1.0, 1.5 and 2.0%) of each of calcium and potassium nutrients viz. calcium chloride, calcium nitrate, potassium sul-fate and potassium nitrate, and water spray as a con-trol at 30 days intervals starting from fruit set i. The experimental findings revealed that fruit physical at-tributes and yield of pear cv Pathernakh were signifi-cantly influenced by calcium and potassium nutri-ents. The fruits treated with potassium nitrate showed highest fruit width (7.08 cm), weight (181.87 g), vol-ume (186.92 ml) andyield (53.88 kg tree -1) of pear. How-ever, maximum specific gravity(0.99 g/ml) was recorded with calcium chloride treatment. Among thevarious concentrations applied 1.5% treatment of these chemi-cal showed highest significant effects on physical attributes and yield of pear fruits.
