Abstract

Activation of the Drosophila EGF receptor requires the transmembrane TGF-α-like ligand Spitz. Recent studies have shed new light on the role of two transmembrane proteins, Star and Rhomboid, in the presentation and subsequent proteolytic processing of Spitz.
