Abstract

The function of Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) is determine information about position, navigation and timing, and has been widely used in several countries. Australia is the one of countries that have increased economic benefits with the utilization of GNSS technology. In Indonesia, GNSS technology has been widely used by various government agencies for positioning, disaster mitigation, land use planning and space weather research. This study aims to find out the institutional implementation of GNSS in Australia, and compare with its application in Indonesia. The methodology that used in this study is descriptive which describes the institutional system of GNSS in Australia as well as compares between institutions in Indonesia and Australia. The results shows that Australia's space policy mandate to establish an institution as a coordinator and in charge of the GNSS infrastructure and services while in Indonesia, there is no institution has been appointed by the government to be responsible for the GNSS infrastructure and services.
