Abstract

In a sample of 13 animals (8 males and 5 females) of the spiny rat Proechimys iheringi iheringi from three localities of the State of São Paulo (Casa Grande, Ubatuba and Iguape) the diploid numbers were 2n = 61, 62, 63, 64 and 65 chromosomes due to the presence of 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 minute supernumerary chromosomes, respectively. G- and C-band patterns, localization of the nucleolus organizer regions (NOR’s) and R-banding obtained after 5-BrdUrd incorporation are presented. © 1985 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
