Mistaken identity

Abstract

It is suggested that direct identification of an individual by identification parade is fraught with some danger, leading to a possible miscarriage of justice and is therefore becoming doubtful as evidence. In the light of recent changes in behaviour in society and in medico scientific techniques, the chance of a miscarriage of justice occurring is even greater than at present, when direct identification of individuals is relied upon. Therefore circumstantial scientific evidence will have an even greater role to play in the future.
