TÉCNICA PARA DESENVOLVIMENTO DE BIOENSAIOS COM OLIGONYCHUS YOTHERSI (ACARI: TETRANYCHIDAE) EM LABORATÓRIO

Abstract

RESUMO Foram testadas diferentes técnicas visando manter o ácaro Oligonychus yothersi (McGregor) em disco foliares de Ilex paraguariensis (St. Hil.) para execução de bioensaios com fungos entomopatogênicos, em laboratório. Contudo, as técnicas testadas mostraram-se insatisfatórias. Assim, elaborou-se uma técnica na qual os discos foliares foram mantidos flutuando em água destilada dentro de caixas plásticas circulares (3,0 cm diâmetro e 1,5 cm altura). Com esta técnica, as perdas de ácaros por fuga foram inferiores a 10% em um período de 10 dias, durante o qual, os disco foliares utilizados permaneceram fisiologicamente satisfatório para os ácaros.ABSTRACT Different techniques were tested for rearing Oligonychus yothersi (McGregor) on Ilex paraguariensis (St. Hil.) leaf disks for use in laboratory bioassays with entomopathogenic fungi. However, these were unsatisfactory. The most efficient setup elaborated consisted of leaf disks floating in distilled water inside circular plastic boxes (3.0 cm in diameter and 1.5 cm high). With this setup, the mites proportion that escaped was lower than 10% in a period of 10 days, during which the leaf disks remained physiologically suitable for the mite.
