Abstract
Space exploration missions became open for private and government organizations while attracting the research interest of universities. The communication system is vital in any CubeSat or nanosatellite since it maintains connectivity with the ground station, where the antenna is the key element of the system. Modelling, simulation and performance analysis of an L band patch antenna for a nanosatellite transmission system have been reported in this paper. The antenna is modelled to be used by Nanosatellite and subsystem with a dimension of 40×40mm2. The antenna achieved 5.3 dB of realized gain in its operating band. Rogers 5880 is used as substrate material. The antenna offers the advantage of compact size along with reducing the risk of mission failure due to deployment.
