Abstract

A study on nonadiabatic transient phenomena in a λ electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) system was studied. Laplace transform approach to solve the time-dependent density matrix equation was used for theoretical treatment. A 8 Rb magneto-optical trap was used for the experiments. Results showed that resonant turn-on using Laplace method enabled to identify a frequency oscillation. The results also showed applicability to the understanding of EIT for quantum interference storage. © Oxford University Press 2002.
