Abstract

The article discusses an individual's motives in sharing relationship updates online. Topics covered include the desire to discourage outside advances and romantic threats via updates on the current relationship and to enhance one's self by displaying partners on social media and the possible online sharing of the relationship to overcompensate for the affection displayed.
