Abstract

We are going to do a discussion about the lab activities in a learning Physics project. The project's first part has used History of Science to introduce Aristotelian and Galilean concepts of movement. Project's second part has used open lab activities and low cost materials to reproduce the Galileo's inclined plane experiment. The experiment was developed to hands on and shows the extremely hard work to measure time manually. We have used a PVC tube with holes 20 cm separated, a small ball and a chronometer to manual measures. After this very imprecise measure it was introduced a microcomputer and LDR sensors to acquire data, make position versus time tables and draw the respective graphics. The experimental activity is open so that the students can explore, test and discuss solutions for all the process of measure, since the sensors LDR still the graphics drawing using spreadsheet. We have used LOGO free software to acquire data and process control. The tube was placed horizontally to investigate Galilean inertial behavior and inclined to investigate the free fall acceleration. An evaluation process is made. © by the Sociedade Brasileira de Física.
