Abstract

In recent years, educational contexts have undergone a transformation brought about by the introduction of educational technologies. However, in the area of social sciences, and in particular history, the impact has been less significant. The aim of this research is to analyse the effectiveness of Virtual Reality as an educational tool in the subject of History in Primary Education. To conduct the study, a didactic intervention was developed through a virtual visit to the archaeological site ‘La Matilla’ (Fuente del Maestre, Badajoz). The stratified random selection sample consisted of 150 students from 5th and 6th grade of Primary Education. A questionnaire designed ad hoc was used as a data collection instrument to measure learning, usefulness and emotions generated in the process. The data have been analysed using a mixed methodology with the software SPSS V29 and ATLAS.ti. The results conclude a high effectiveness in learning, ease of use and mostly positive emotional responses. From these results it can be concluded that the implementation of Virtual Reality as an educational tool in the teaching of History in Primary Education is feasible and generates a positive interest among students.
