Cadeia produtiva da ovinocultura: Uma análise sob a ótica dos produtores

Abstract

The state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, has the largest sheep population in Brazil. However, several crises have reduced drastically sheep rearing and destructured the productive chain. By exploratory and qualitative analysis, current paper analyzes the sheep productive chain for a re-structuring program, from the point of view of the producer. Data were retrieved through questionnaires given ad hoc to one hundred sheep rearers in the region of Campanha, Rio Grande do Sul, between February and March 2013. Interpretation of data revealed that the production chain is de-structured and a new structure should be established in sheep rearing since the farmer still has a short-sighted idea on how producers may aggregate value with a newly-structured production chain.
