Abstract

Extracts of twenty- one basidiomyeete fungi were tested against the bacteria, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus, Pseudomonan aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, and Klebsiella. Among them Voluariella volvacea showed promising activity against E. coli. Ethyl acetate extract of Volvariella volvacea was fractionated to hexane and purified on normal phase silica gel column to obtain ergostoro; peroxide which showed comparable activity against E. coli as that of that erude extract.
